Body Size, Shape, and Gender Expression: Considerations for Working with Transgender and Gender Diverse Clients

Speaker: Whitney Linsenmeyer, PhD, RD, LD

Body size, body shape, and gender expression are uniquely linked for many transgender and gender diverse individuals. This webinar will address weight management considerations for nutrition professionals working with transgender clients, with attention to the prevalence of eating disorders, overweight and obesity in the transgender population. Gender-affirming communication and the intersection of weight and gender stigmas will be addressed.

We anticipate this webinar will be approved for one hour CPEU.

This webinar was planned in conjunction with the WM DPG Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee. We encourage you to visit https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html to assess your own personal implicit bias on race, gender, transgender, and/or weight. Recognition of personal biases is an important step in providing excellent care to our patients and clients. Results will not be discussed publicly.
