House of Delegates

As Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group delegate to the Academy House of Delegates (HOD), I am your voice. I represent you, your ideas, and your opinions. I bring your comments, concerns, and issues to the Academy and to the HOD. Throughout each year, I will be soliciting feedback on initiatives, and critical issues in a variety of ways. I cannot be your voice if I don't hear from you! I am also the voice of the HOD back to you with updates on Academy business, strategic plan, and current and future issues. Please contact me at any time with comments, clarification, issues and mega issues that you feel are important. When you see a comment request, please take a couple minutes of your valuable time to respond, what you say does matter.

Winter 2025 News

News from your Delegate!

Volunteer opportunity — The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics invites dedicated members to apply for committee volunteer opportunities for terms starting June 1, 2026. Committee participation is one of the most impactful ways to shape the future of our profession and the Academy. Use your voice and leadership to advance practice, elevate member experience, and support the Academy’s mission. If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference, expand your professional skills, and collaborate with passionate colleagues, we encourage you to apply by the February 16, 2026 deadline.

Please note: A separate application to volunteer for the Committee on Lifelong Learning will open March 1, 2026 for terms beginning in October 2026.

HOD meeting update — At the December 11th House of Delegates meeting, members from the Council on Future Practice (CFP) presented an overview of changing science as a driver of change to the profession. Delegates engaged in small group discussions on changing science within the nutrition and dietetics profession and across the broader public landscape. You can view the CFP presentation and read the summary here. Delegates emphasized how declining public trust and misinformation complicate acceptance of evolving evidence. They explored implications for workforce readiness, ethical responsibilities, and communication strategies. Insights focus on empowering dietitians through timely access to evidence, stronger scientific literacy, and transparent leadership.

The last reminder we were asked to share is in regard to the draft 2026 standards.  I know all of you are familiar with this request, and hope you all take the opportunity to provide your feedback via the ACEND survey monkey links. The surveys are available until February 10, 2026. Your survey responses will remain anonymous.

Happy New Year!
