Join us for our upcoming WM DPG webinar!
Speaker: Bridget McCormick, MS, RD, LD, CSOWM, CDCES
The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery (RYGB) improves glucose control in the majority of patients. However, a minority group of individuals develop a life-threatening complication of postprandial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia. The true frequency of this condition remains uncertain, due, in part, to differences in the diagnostic criteria and in the affected populations, as well as a relative lack of patient and physician awareness and understanding of this condition. In this webinar we will review the signs and symptoms of hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia, how this condition is diagnosed, discuss the potential mechanisms of action, and current treatment options.
