Insufficient sleep is highly prevalent in today’s society. This is an important public health concern because short sleep is associated with an increased risk of obesity. Clinical intervention studies further support the role of short sleep on dietary intakes. Moreover, weight loss is affected by an individual’s sleep duration such that weight regain may be more likely. The goal of this webinar is to highlight the association between sleep duration and quality and obesity risk and illustrate how sleep duration and quality can influence energy balance regulation and weight management.
